Challenge

In 2013 Sigma Health only had a basic content website and they desperately needed to trade online. Their competition had around 3 years head start.

This was a ground up build with similar functionality to the Amcal site (both Guardian and Amcal sites were built at the same time). Only difference was that the Amcal labeled products were not to appear on the Guardian site.

Solution

Since the Amcal and Guardian sites had to be built and launched at the same time. It made sense to use the two store front solution any good eCommerce platform has. In this case the IBM Webspere platform was used.

One of the major tasks I undertook was to precure the products and content. I worked with business managers to decide the catalogue of product that were to be sold on the Guardian site; optimising the content so that it would rank with search engines.

Getting Product Online

The biggest undertaking that I led for project launch was procuring content for the catalogue of products chosen to be sold on the Guardian website.

As it was unwise to use PPC for Guardian as we would be competing directly with Amcal. It was decided to pay extra attention to the product content to help it rank organically. 

To get the job done, I had to get product content and product images from suppliers. Rewrite the content and have the images treated to brand, thus building a image repository. 

When the product content was complete. I managed the upload in the backend.
